The newly constructed 17,000 square foot R.W. Kern Center at Hampshire College is an award-winning project. It has earned ILFI’s Living Building Certification, International Campus Sustainability Achievement Award, AIA’s Committee on the Environment Top Ten Award, and others. Designed to be entirely self-sustaining, the R.W. Kern Center has a solar canopy to generate electricity, a rainwater harvesting system for net-zero water, and exposed walls in the mechanical rooms.
